Rolldown
Shutters are an ideal choice for storm and
security protection because of their flexibility. These shutters offer the option of
rolling all the way up or down, or remaining in any position in between. In addition to
offering protection against hurricane force winds, flying debris, and rain, these shutters
are also a convenient way of protecting your home or business from forced entry and theft,
with the added benefits of noise reduction, energy efficiency and privacy.
Rolldown shutters are available in three basic configurations, hand crank, tape drive or
motorized. All systems can be controlled from inside or outside
The Rolldown shutter system consists of the following parts:SLATS- these are the interconnecting horizontal strips that roll up or
down to protect your structure. Slats are available in the following materials:
- Extruded aluminum- this material offers the greatest
strength durability. It is the ideal choice for storm protection. Extruded aluminum slats
are available in 40mm, 50mm and 60mm.
- Foam Filled- these slats are the best choice for
insulation and noise reduction, while still offering the strength needed for protection
from driving rain and harsh weather. For greater strength and durability Ultra High
Density foam filled is an excellent choice. Foam filled slats are available in 40mm,55mm
and 77mm.
TRACKS-
These are the "U"-shaped aluminum channels
extending from the upper housing to the bottom of the opening. They guide and secure the
slats.
UPPER HOUSING-
This device goes on the top of the Rolldown shutter. It is
the box into which the slats roll when open. The height, size, and material of the shutter
determines the size of the upper housing.
The upper housing also contains a reel around which slats roll. The reel turns by use of a
hand crank, pull strap, or motor. All three methods allow operation from inside your home. |
